World Series Game 7 Captures Over 50 Million Viewers In the US, Canada and Japan Markets.

The nail-biting extended contest that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Blue Jays by one run averaged a combined over 50 million watchers across the United States, Canada, and Japan territories. MLB stated this marks the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 contest between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable game drew 27.33M audience members on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series game since the 2017 Game 7 between the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase over the last finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed fourth, the fourth game was 7th, Game 5 was 8th, and Game 3 landed in 13th place.

Global Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English program in the country after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest began at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12 million viewers. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto gave up one run in six frames – averaged 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched World Series game on a single network in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match World Series averaged 15.71 million audience members on Fox, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen audience growth for two straight years.

Counting the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the total American average reached 16.1 million. The total World Series viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09 million watchers, an 8% increase over last year and Fox’s best postseason performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 various tongues.
